Music

Music plays a key role in the worship of our parish.  There is variety in style and our aim is to offer our best efforts in praise to God and to enhance the spiritual experience of our congregations.

"Wherefore with my utmost art, I will sing thee,
And the cream of all my heart, I will bring thee."    (George Herbert 1633)

The Choir
There are robed choirs in each of our churches, although the numbers at our daughter church are quite small.  We practice together every Thursday. We are a mixed choir of children and adults (25 people).  We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music and the children follow the "Voice for Life" training scheme.

We try to continually extend our repertoire with new settings and anthems.         (Click here to hear our choir)

As our contribution to the "Voices for Hospices - 2007" musical evening, the children of our choir sang some songs from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat" and the full choir sang "Dettingen Te Deum" by Handel.

 The Music Group
We have a newly formed music group which has been enthusiastically received by our congregations.  They sing regularly at our monthly all-age Eucharist and on other special occasions.

The Organ
The organs in both churches are electronic.  They were both built by
Wyvern Organs in 1996.  The organ in the parish church was rebuilt in 2001 with an additional nave organ.  This work was carried out by Wyvern using Phoenix Organs technology.

We are proud of the quality of sound produced by the organ and you can sample it
