Ladies' Fellowship
2007 CALENDAR
What the bible has to say about fellowship.
- We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete. 1 John 1:3-4
- Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:25
- It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart, for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:7-8
The Ladies Fellowship usually meets on the 3rd Monday of each month, in St James' Parish Rooms from 7.30 pm until approximately 9.30 pm. Entry is usually £1 (although this can increase to £1.50 / £2.00 if we have speaker costs to cover) and includes light refreshments. There is usually a raffle.

The Fellowship held its first meeting in November 2005 on a very informal basis. Subsequent meetings have been held each month, hosting a variety of speakers, demonstrators and even the occasional trip out! See below. In November 2006 we celebrated our 1st anniversary by holding a celebration meeting. Our guest speaker was local lass, Winnie Milne who entertained us with her local wit and humour. An amount of £450 was raised in our 1st year and special thanks was given to everyone for this.
August 2006, involved travelling to the Motorcise Healthy Living Centre, in Oldham. See pictures below. There are also more pictures in the photo album.

Mabel on the right with Kath. Both working hard on the exercise machines but still having lots of fun.

Beryl stretching away in the distance. Pauline twisting away in the middle and Michaela pushing and pulling. All still having a great time.
In January 2007 we have celebrated our 1st meal out together in Bertonn's Italian restaurant in Shaw.

From the front left, Joyce, Ann, Michaela, Michelle (hiding), and Margaret. From the front right, Linda, Kath and Jackie.

In February 2007 one of our own members, Joy Dunkerley, gave us a fabulous demonstration on card making. In March we had a relaxing evening with Angela Godfrey who came to demonstrate the art and effects of 'Indian Head Massage'! April was a particularly special time in which we enjoyed seeing a video interview with Geoffrey Abbott by our Vicar Jonathan. Mr Abbott was able to share his remarkable memories with us, and he had some amazing stories to tell, including the receiving of Maunday Money from HM the Queen. The video lasted approximately 50 minutes and Mr Abbott has given his permission for copies to be made available for a donation (minimum £2). Please contact either Bronwin, Barbara Adams or Jean England.
June 2007 - Our annual Potteries Trip, begining from St Mary's at 7.45am, a total of 44 Ladies set off by coach to Stoke and the Potteries as we enjoyed a light breakfast of Danish Pastries and fruit juice. Following a tight schedule we visited Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Aynsley, Leeds Pottery, Portmeirion (2), Spode, Churchill and Royal Stafford, stopping for lunch at Wedgwood whcih was served on their famous china. We of course had a raffle as prizes were given to us at each of the shops we visited. Mavis was the lucky winner of the beautiful crystal vase. The whole day was a tremendous success and we returned home tired but very happy at 6.30pm. The weather was glorious and together we all managed to spend an incredible amount, in fact, our coach driver, Phil became increasingly worried about where to store all our ‘bargains’. Most important of all was the fellowship shared between our Ladies and also from St Mary’s, St Joseph’s, St Paul’s and St Andrew’s. Thank you everyone, with all our love from the ladies fellowship committee.
October 2007 - Family event; Gifts and Talents of Our Parish in which we said 'The church family is at its best when it reflects the rich variety of gifts and callings that God has entrusted to his people. We've all seen the amazing things that happen when God's people unite together to serve him. Helping each other to share these gifts, skills, and unique callings is central to church fellowship, and it's central to what we're passionate about in our community.' This event was a fantastic success raising £900 for our parish funds.
Meetings are open to all ladies of any age and everyone is welcome. If you wish to find out more about the Ladies Fellowship, please contact the secretary, Michelle Miller, or Margaret Sorsby by completing the form below and we'll be in touch!
